Easy Homemade Glitter Slime Recipe

Easy Homemade Glitter Slime Recipe

If your kiddos love Mickey and his friends as much as my girls do, then they are going to love making this DIY glitter slime inspired by Mickey and the Roadster Racers!

This slime recipe is not only easy to make, but the kids will have the best time making it.

You won’t need a ton of ingredients and the best part is that the kids will go crazy for it.

Now is the time to help your kids create some homemade slime and allow them to have some sensory playtime!

It’s the perfect craft for kids, science activity, and sensory play all in one!

My girls and I couldn’t resist creating a fun slime recipe inspired by our favorite roadsters racers!

We are all about glitter but wanted to make sure that it was inspired by Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

So, we decided to create two easy glitter slime recipes.

This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (it means if you click on a link and make a purchase I will earn a small commission. It will not cost you a penny more).

How To Make Glitter Slime

Why Slime Is So Fun

First of all, slime is not just about having fun.

In fact, when kids are creating their own slime recipes they are actually doing science.

Yes, you read that correctly!

By them mixing materials together they are learning about converting a liquid into a sticky solid.

If that’s not fun learning then I don’t know what is!

So next time you are thinking that your kids are just having fun, think again and join the science fun!

How To Store Slime

The best way to store slime is in a plastic sealed container.

You can also keep it in a plastic sealed bag.

I’m done both and my girls seem to like the containers more than the baggies.

Plus, I do think they last longer and they are easier to store this way.

Are There Other Ways To Make Slime

There are so many ways to make slime nowadays that the possibilities are endless!

Just yesterday my girls were making unicorn slime with beads and other materials.

I think the older they get the more they find to add to their concoctions!

I’m just glad they were outdoors when they did this!

DIY Easy Slime Recipe

Ingredients Needed To Make Glitter Slime

Making slime is super easy and it’s something that I made in my classroom often.

Kids just love getting their hands dirty and sticky!

This is a super easy slime recipe that only requires you to purchase two items.

Red Glitter Slime Ingredients

  • A bottle of Elmer’s Glitter Glue
  • 1 teaspoon of Borax
  • One cup of cold water
  • 1 cup of hot water

Clear Glitter Slime

  • A bottle of clear Elmer’s Glue
  • Black Glitter
  • A teaspoon of Borax
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • One cup of hot water

Only 2 Ingredients Glitter Slime

How To Make Easy Glitter Slime

You and your kids are going to love how easy this slime recipe is to make at home.

  • Empty out your glue bottle in a bowl.
  • Add 1 cup of cold water.
  • In a separate bowl, add 1 teaspoon of Borax and 1 cup of hot water. No need to boil water. Mix well.
  • Add your Borax mixture slowly into your glue water mixture. Stir well, adding more Borax mixture slowly until your consistency is slimy.
  • Dispose of extra liquid and with hands massage your slime until it’s perfect to play with.
  • To make clear slime just follow the instructions above to create your slime.
  • The only extra step here is to add your glitter to your glue and water mixture before adding the Borax.

How Long Will Slime Last

Slime doesn’t really have an expiration date or will go bad.

But, if your slime gets moldy or gets hard most definitely throw it away and make some fresh slime.

We usually keep ours for a few weeks or if I see that my girls have been playing with them more than usual then I toss them.

Just an excuse for them to make some more!
