Captain Phasma | Gwendoline Christie On Star Wars: The Last Jedi #TheLastJediEvent
She’s easily been apart of several of my favorite movies and television show if you know what I mean! She has come out blazing in Hollywood and although she doesn’t seem to portray what people assume woman should look like or be, she is as elegant and beautiful owning it more than any woman in the industry! Before entering the interview I was excited because I am a fan, but afterward she one me tens times over!
Gwendolyn Christie likes a challenge when it comes to her playing roles and we can see that as Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Once again we see her in this suit of armor that is even more amazing than the first time we saw her in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Gwendolyn shared that we will be seeing more of Phasma in the new movie and it’s all about revenge!.
“That’s something I find interesting about this character, is that women are not conventionally supposed to have a violence that comes from deep within”.

The costume which she wears throughout the film of The Last Jedi was costume create for her to wear, which she called a “couture” suit because it was created with her dimensions in mind. Creating a more diverse and movement-friendly suit than what she wore on The Force Awakens. Without knowing where filmmakers would go with Captain Phasma’s character at the time the details weren’t as specific as this time around. Well, I’m sure glad they decided to keep her around and upgrade her suit!
“The idea of the senses being shot down, sometimes entirely, that’s an interesting choice to make as a person, and in this case, as a female to elect to have all of your senses shut down- to exist entirely practically”.
During Gwendolyn Christie’s interview, she used the word revenge several times. All I kept thinking was the fight scene between her and Finn! I needed answers about the moment her and Finn finally meet again in The Last Jedi. Teacher vs student! I needed to know where this rage of emotions came from in Captain Phasma, knowing Finn betrayed her or as she would call them “defective” in The Force Awakens. Unfortunately, for Finn, I’m on both of their sides and hope they both make it through the fight!
All I know is Finn can really hold his own and we learned that in The Force Awakens after he fought Kylo Ren, but we all know that Captain Phasma is not backing down and she will do the impossible to get her revenge and follow orders from the dark side.

When mentally preparing for her role as Captain Phasma in The Last Jedi Gwendolyn took her character as a person, because that’s who she is.
“Someone like Captain Phasma, it’s in every fiber of her being- the need for ambition; the need for revenge; the need to be ultimate; the need to destroy, a woman as a destructive force. When women are seen as a mother- whatever that means which is a multidimensional thing, I truly believe. That inverted; the opposite of that, fascinated me and I felt like the opportunities were limitless”.
Do you all now understand how amazing she was during her interview? I loved that she was so opened and honest with us about her role as Captain Phasma in The Last Jedi, but I still have questions about that fight scene with Finn and I need answers! I guess I will have to wait and see what happens!
