How To Make Oven Baked Turkey Tacos
This recipe has become a favorite of mine to cook during the week when I want to make something quick.
While still providing a full meal for my family.
My girls always look forward to Taco Tuesdays, well in our house is Taco Wednesday because of our dance schedule.
Tacos are always on my weekly meal plan!
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- On the stove heat up a pan to medium heat.
- Pour extra virgin olive oil to your heated pan.
- Cook your ground turkey until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- While you cook your turkey, stand all of your taco shells (or as many as you can fit) into a baking dish.
- Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes. You are trying to crisp your taco shells before adding all the ingredients. I do this as well when we make regular tacos.
- Low your stove heat to low once your ground turkey is fully cooked and sprinkle taco seasonings over meat.
- Make sure to cover all of the meat with taco seasonings.
- Remove your tacos from the oven.
If you’re looking for a great meat chopper I love mine and it’s perfect for leaving ground meat in small chunks.
The one I have I purchased during one of my daughters school sells, but I linked one above that is the same.
- Smear your refried beans in each taco shell using the back of a small spoon.
- Add the ground turkey meat over the beans.
- Then sprinkle with lots of shredded cheese.
- Bake in the oven for another 10 minutes or so. You want to make sure that the beans are warm and the cheese melted.
- Remove tacos from the oven.
- Top with your favorite taco toppings!
Tip: By baking the tacos beforehand I promise that you will love the crispiness when you crunch into your tacos.
How To Make Meat Less Seasoned
Making tacos means adding taco seasoning to your ground turkey, chicken, or beef when cooking.
If your kids are like my youngest daughter who does not like strong taco seasoning flavors then you can scoop out some of the meat before adding your seasoning to it.
Once I cook the meat thoroughly I almost scoop up a small amount of the meat for my daughter to add to her tacos.
You can also add fewer seasonings to your tacos if you prefer.
Protein Ideas For Tacos
When it comes to taco recipes the protein options are endless!
Our family loves tacos and I love making them in different ways.
Here are some great protein options to add to taco nights.
- Shredded chicken
- Salsa shredded chicken
- Ground beef
