Every superhero film needs to have a “villain” right? Today I’m sharing my Laurence Fishburne Interview on being apart of Ant-Man and the Wasp cast in his role as Dr. Bill Foster. Thank you, Disney and Marvel, for allowing me to attend the Ant-Man and the Wap movie press junket in LA. All Marvel fangirling opinions are my own!
Laurence Fishburne Interview Ant-Man and the Wasp | Dr. Bill Foster
When I think of Laurence Fishburne, I can’t but think of him as Morpheus. He’s one of those legendary actors that you remember because he’s such a fantastic actor and really sells the role he portrays. His role as Dr. Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp is no different and getting the opportunity to interview him was an honor. Especially since he’s never had the chance to sit down with a group of influencers.
About Ant-Man and the Wasp
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
From Comic Book Fan To The MCU Family
If you follow along Laurence Fishburne’s career then you know that he has been apart of both the comic worlds, but as a huge comic book fan, he was determined to be apart of the MCU family. That’s how he became involved with Ant-Man and the Wasp. He admitted that although he didn’t know the character Dr. Bill Foster, it didn’t matter. It was still Marvel and with Ant-Man doing amazing the first time around he knew he needed to be apart of the film
“I was very just happy to jump in all four feet. I mean, I would have played a fly on the wall. I would have played a piece of debris in the Marvel Universe.
There’s Nothing Wrong With Villainy
We’ve seen Laurence Fishburne play several major roles, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen him play a villain. Dr. Bill Foster, his character in Ant-Man and the Wasp gave us a chance to see both sides of him. I don’t want to give too much away yet, but, he’s just like Ghost’s character. He plays one of those villains that you find yourself wanting to root for, just because his heart is in the right place.
“Heroes, villains, whatever it is, as long as you can make them human then it’s fun”.
His Reaction When He Saw Ant-Man and the Wasp
This photo that my friend Louise from Mom Start captured when Laurence Fishburne shared with us his reaction when he saw a certain scene in the movie is priceless! As always, because I don’t like sharing spoilers in my reviews or interviews I’m not going to say anymore! But, if you can see his reaction then you know that you don’t want to miss the movie!
“Also, when Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer show up in the movie and they’re like thirty years younger, I went, oh sh*#!”
Fan Of Captain Marvel
As the rest of us Marvel fans, Laurence Fishburne can’t wait to see Captain Marvel on the big screen when asked which Marvel characters he would love to see have a movie. As mentioned above, he’s a huge comic book fan and knows his MCU characters very well. He said he would love to see some of the more obscure ones from the comics come to life.
“What I love about Captain Marvel, if you don’t know the history of Captain Marvel, you know, Thanos is a Captain Marvel’s villain, and Captain Marvel is kickin’ his ass regularly. So I’m so excited to see that.”
