Spending alone time with your partner is important and necessary to grow together. Knowing Why Weekly Date Nights Are Important for your relationship is the first step to making it happen.
Why Weekly Date Nights Are Important
Sometimes our busy lives can get int the way of putting those who matter the most first. This includes taking the time to spend quality time with your partner and the one you love. I can’t express how much a partnership grows when you take the time to be together, have a conversation, and discuss future plans. This is especially important for parents. Our world revolves around our children that sometimes we forget that the first person we fell in love with was our partner. Here are some reasons why I believe weekly date nights are important and I hope it inspires you to plan something with your partner this week.
One-On-One Time With Your Spouse
You may be thinking that you spend quality time with your spouse every day. Perhaps he helps you do the dishes, prepare dinner, or maybe you watch Netflix before bed each night (by the way this is totally us). The truth is that this is not quality one-on-one time. This is why weekly date nights are so important! It forces you to move everything aside, even if only for a few hours. Spending time with your spouse or partner helps push daily life chores and stress to the side for just a bit so that you can concentrate on each other again.
Don’t Use Money As An Excuse
You don’t have to spend any money in order to have a great date night with your spouse. Offer to swap babysitting with another mom, or wait until your kids go to sleep to have some fun. You can have movie nights at home, candlelit dinners, and a bunch of other free and fun date nights without spending a dime. Think about your favorite park or lake, it’s the perfect quiet atmosphere to have a conversation and spend quality time together without breaking your monthly budget.
It Strengthens Your Marriage
No matter how much time you spend with your spouse, there is something special about a weekly date night. It’s a chance to reconnect together and catch up on the week, or even rekindle a little bit of romance. With kids around the house, we don’t always have the time to focus on our spouse, and sometimes our busy schedule can keep us away from each other. A weekly date night might not sound like much, but trust me, it could be just what your marriage is missing and you don’t even realize it.
Date Nights Don’t Have To Just Be At Home
Even if you are on a tight budget, you can still get out of the house and have a great date with your spouse! Dinner and a movie might be the traditional go-to for date nights, but there are so many other things you can do! Take a look at what events are going on near your city, and attend one together. A festival, concert in the park, or another local event can make a great date night out of the house. If you can’t find an event, look for cheap or free dates such as going for a walk through town or having coffee.
You Can Take A Break From Parenting
Time away from the kids is something that happens very infrequently. Parenting is hard and stressful work sometimes, and it can be nice to finally have a glass of wine with the person who gets you the most. For one night or even one afternoon a week, take the opportunity to take a break from parenting for a little while and enjoy the time as adults for a change. I love my children, but I also love my husband and he deserves the same amount of my time and love.
I’m beyond no expert or perfect when it comes to my marriage, but if I’ve learned one thing is that when stress doesn’t surround us we can get back to that place when we fell in love. Spending time with our partner or spouse should be a priority, not a burden. It should be easy and most definitely not stressful. Just remember why date nights are so important and you will start seeing a difference in your relationship with your husband or wife.
Will you be committing to more date nights with your partner?
