Can I Make Chicken Bisque In A Pot
Yes, if you don’t own a slow cooker, crockpot, or Instant Pot you can make this delicious chicken bisque in a regular stove pot.
Follow the directions the same way I have written them below. The only difference would be to lower your heat to low or simmer for about the same amount of time.
Make sure to keep an eye on your pot just to make sure the sauce is not burning on the bottom.

Tips On Making Recipe Semi-Homemade

From the ingredients above you will need the boneless skinless chicken breasts, mushrooms, green onions, and seasonings.
I also wanted to share a quick tip that I use when using my crockpot or slow cooker.
Using Slow Cooker Liners in your crockpot cuts down on cleaning time.
It allows for easier cleaning after cooking and it also helps from allowing the food to stick on the side of your crockpot when cooking.
How To Make Slow Cooker Chicken Tomato Bisque
One of the best things about using a slow cooker is that everything gets added to the same pot!
Fewer messes to clean and no worrying about standing over the stove to make sure everything gets cooked properly.
Sometimes I just don’t have the energy after a long day of work and after-school activities.
- Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray like extra virgin olive oil spray.
- Add your can of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, minced garlic, heavy cream, and shredded parmesan to your slow cooker.
- Stir everything together. (If you’re using canned tomato soup simply add this to this crockpot.)
- Lastly, add chicken breasts, mushrooms, green onions, and seasonings.
- Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours.
- Before serving shred your chicken completely right in the slow cooker. The chicken will be nice and soft for easy shredding.
This is optional, but if you love toppings on your bisque top with croutons, sour cream, cheese, or anything else your heart desires!
This is also a dish that is delicious when served over white rice. YUM!

What’s your favorite slow cooker recipe?

We tried this recipe and for some reason it came out more like a broth and not like a soup. Seems like we must have done something wrong because it didn’t thicken up at all. We used the slow cook setting on our instapot and there’s no setting for high, there’s just a setting for slow cook. Do you think that’s why? Do we need to add some corn starch or flour? Or maybe use tomato paste instead of sauce next time?

Hi Jennifer, Hmmmm it should have thicken up a bit even using the instant pot slow cooker setting. Did you use heavy cream in the recipe? That should have helped thicken it up during the slow cooker process. You could use a bit of tomato paste next time to thicken it up for sure. That’s what I use when I want to thicken up soup or my chili.
