We have never had the chance to attend any of the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties in the past, but with our youngest turning 3 on Thanksgiving week we thought it would be a great idea to skip the birthday party this year and plan a Disney family early birthday celebration! One of the surprises we had for the girls was to take them to see Our First Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, knowing that they loved the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party so much!
Let me start by saying that if you really want to get into the holiday Christmas spirit Disney is the place to go! They really have thought about every little detail when it comes to transforming the Magic Kingdom into a Christmas wonderland! Everyone is dressed up in holiday wear, no matter the weather here in Florida. Because it’s such a beautiful and amazing thing to be at Disney during the holidays, that also means lots and lots of people! I’ve been to Disney when it has been at full capacity, I worked there a very long time ago, but as a mom with two little ones it definitely doesn’t make it easy! So, this is the sign we walked up to right before getting on the Ferry Boat that takes us to Magic Kingdom!
Yup! Completely sold out! Here I thought I was being smart by going to the second Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but then again I forgot it was Veterans Day! YIKES! So, I say we went, we saw, and we conquered 🙂
The first thing we did was head straight to Cinderella’s Castle for a Frozen Holiday Wish where we watched Queen Elsa transform Cinderella’s Castle into a glistening ice palace at 6:15. Well… we saw the castle being transformed, but we barely got a look of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf. This might have been because the park was still opened for all guests. The party officially starts at 7 p.m., but we are allowed inside Magic Kingdom with our MVMCP tickets after 4 p.m. There’s also another show at 8:00 p.m. which might have been less crowded, but there was so much to do that we wanted to take advantage of every second.
The transformation of the castle is absolutely beautiful! Seriously, you don’t get tired of looking at it all night long and I caught myself stopping to take a picture every single time. The picture really doesn’t do it justice and it’s something to definitely see up close!
Here’s a little preview of the castle being transformed! Sorry for the shakiness and the talking, I was carrying my 5 year old so she could see 🙂

Because it was our daughters birthday we kinda let her guide us on what she wanted to do and who she wanted to see. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when no one wanted to see Jack the Skelleton in his Santy outfit. So, it was a princess galore kinda night 🙂 The first Princess she was determined to see was Ariel. When I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday she said stay at the Ariel hotel, see Ariel, and get on the Ariel ride.
Then we headed to our second stop to visit with Snow White and Prince Charming and Aurora with Prince Phillip. I do love that we did one line for two characters, well… technically four.
But for some reason we just couldn’t get Kaidence to take a picture with Aurora. I think we might have ruined that with watching Maleficent? Oopps!! Good thing big sister is all about Prince and Princesses!
At this point we thought a little quick break for some special snacks was in order! Did you know that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party offer Hot Cocoa and Snickerdoodle cookies for all guests all night?! I know! Now, as a mom of a child with peanut allergies, this cookie is a no no for us, but as soon as I mentioned that allergy to one of the cast members handing out the treats, they found a supervisor who came over with bags of Enjoy Life! Disney, you have captured a mama’s heart once again!! Being able to offer my child a cookie like everyone else and seeing her face light up makes every crowd worth wild 😉
Next up, a visit to Scotland to visit one of my favorite princess, if not my favorite of all! The girls loved meeting Merida and it was nice that we were the second to last ones to see her right before she had to leave to check on her three brothers.
After visiting Merida it was another stop for treats! Look for the large Candy Canes to direct you towards some hot cocoa and cookies! I think that after so much sugar the girls energy started to drop and after an hour of dancing and watching the amazing “Holiday Wishes Celebrate the Spirit of the Season” Fireworks Kaelyn was done!
This is what happens when you have too much fun and too much sugar! Check out the evidence on her sweater 😉
So, we were down one during the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, but Kaidence had tons of fun watching some of her favorite characters and princesses. Remember, there are two parades throughout the night, so if you miss the first one make sure to catch the second one. I liked sitting in Main Street U.S.A, just because from there you can find a spot watch the fireworks and stay for the parade. Parades are at 8:15 p.m and 10:30 p.m. We caught the second parade hoping that it would be less crowded. Not sure that it was, so make sure to get there early for a good spot.
I do have to say that I was a little disappointed with Anna and Elsa. While going down Main Street not once did they look up and wave at the kids waiting hours to see them. It made me very sad, especially when my 2 year old is so excited and literally waited 2 hours in her spot just so that she could have a up close view of Arendales Princess and Queen. You could hear all the little girls yelling their names and they were having a conversation of their own 🙁
Kaidence barely made it through the fun Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, but I say it was a successful early birthday celebration! As soon as it ended she made her self comfy and fell asleep as well! I would say the girls had an amazing time! While the girls slept we walked around for a bit to take a look at the fantastic Christmas window display down Main Street USA. They are absolutely phenomenal! If you are looking for a spectacular Christmas Party and amazing decorations to get you into the holiday spirit, then Disney is the place to go! Just don’t forget…. everyone is invited and everyone WILL be there 😉
Have you ever attended Mickey’s Very Christmas Party or plan on attending this year?

Yay! Thanks for sharing your pictures, they are amazing! We were there the same night and we had a lot of fun, but yes, it was crowded! Disney did an awesome job with the cookies and cocoa and my girls loved getting the treats. We had a good view of the first parade because a nice cast member allowed us to sit on the curb in front of the people standing. It was amazing, especially since our views of Elsa freezing the castle involved me and my husband holding our girls on our shoulders! I didn’t see much but the girls were happy. 🙂
