One of the things that I enjoy to do on my spare time is watch movies, especially movies that are based off a book series that I was absolutely obsessed with! This week one of my favorite movies of all times will have it’s final story come to life on the big screen, so we had a Hunger Games: Mockingly Part 2 Movie Party screening of part 1! Just so we are ready to go this weekend!
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Party
We invited family and friends to come on over to watch the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 just so we could get ready for the movie premier this Friday November 20th in theaters! Of course no viewing party is complete without a table filled with yummy foods created to the theme of the movie!
Our guests got a chance to taste an array of delicious food from District 12 Coal to some of the delicious Lamb Stew that Katniss Everdeen herself enjoyed and shared with all of us in her first Hunger Games interview!
The lamb stew that we ate was actually my yummy chill recipe which by the way has won several family get together awards against the best chill makers! No, seriously!
Our own District 12 Coal desserts were made by my awesome cousin, who as well is a huge fan of The Hunger Games and will be coming with me on Friday to watch the movie. Maybe I should tell her before she reads this!
Our Hunger Games: Mockingly Part 2 Movie poster was a big hit and a great background for people to take pictures! I just wished I had thought about taking a picture of myself or others taking picture in front of it! I’m so saving this poster and already planning another party really soon!
My Nightlock Berry plater put a few of our guests to sleep, so I had to add a Warning label at the bottom just to let them know. Apparently a few of them have not watched the movie at all, so had no idea what they were in for! Believe me when I say that they probably won’t attend anymore of my movie parties without watching a movie first or at least they will be more cautious what they eat!
The Peeta Bread straight from Mellark Bakery was a huge success! Everyone loved dipping it with hummus and their lamb stew! It was the perfect combination for such fresh baked bread!
My favorite would have to be the Cheese ball I created from Prims Goat. Thank your Prim for allowing us to share your fresh goats milk to make this delicious recipe which I will share with all of you today!
It was perfect with a few crackers of course baked from Mellark Bakery! Where else would I be able to find crackers?
Ingredients needed:
- 2 packs of cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup of cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon of Ranch powder seasoning
- 1 package of cooked bacon and crushed into small pieces
- 1 piece of saran wrap
- zip block bag
Step One: Mix your cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and ranch seasoning in a small bowl. Pour cheese mixture on a piece of saran wrap. Wrap cheese and shape into a ball. Let sit in the refrigerator while your bacon is cooking.
Step Two: Bake your bacon in the oven at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure you don’t burn it, but you need it to be very crunch and cooked.
Once cooked, transfer your bacon to a plate with sheets of paper towel to absorb the grease. Make sure your bacon is cooled before adding it all to you zip block bag. Go ahead and break all those pieces of bacon into small bits.
Step Three: Take your cheese and roll into the bits of bacon until completely covered.
Add to a plate and layer crackers around the cheese.

The decorations were inspired by the first movie of the Hunger Games. Using light colors instead of brights red and oranges, reminded me of the simplicity of Katniss Everdeen when we first met her in District 12.
The trees in the background of the food symbolizes the trees where they used for coverage in most of all the movies! Always staying above ground is the safest bet when others are trying to find you. Unless, that tree is covered with tracker jackers, then you have a big problem!
As you can see we had a wonderful time at our Hunger Game: Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Party celebration! I think that all of our guests are super excited about the movie and can’t wait for opening night this week November 20th!
Check out the movie trailer below to get you even more excited about this week!
About the movie:
Katniss along with other hunger game contestants Peeta, Gale, and Finick head on a mission with the unit from District 13 were they have been taking safety. They will risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow, who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying Katniss herself. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any of the challenges she faced in The Hunger Games.
