Everyone is going crazy right now for the new Minions movie out in theaters! Although, we haven’t had a chance to see the movie we definitely have had fun creating some fun crafts inspired by our favorite yellow friends, like our Minions Frozen Treats and now our Sensory Play with the Minions activity!
If your kiddos are like mine they love to get their hands dirty, especially if the Minions are involved! I haven’t seen my girls this excited about a sensory play activity! Don’t get me wrong, they love sensory play and they do it all the time, I think when you bring out those cute little banana loving Minions every kid just goes crazy!
Materials need to create your Minions inspired sensory play table:
- Water table or a large bin
- Minions
- Pretend play bananas
- Yellow and Blue water beads
- 1 Can of shaving cream
- 2 boxes of cornstarch
- Blue and yellow food coloring
- Water
The first thing you are going to want to do is to make sure to add your water beads into large bowls fill with water. Follow the instructions on your packet to make sure that they turn out correctly. Leaving them over night is always the best things to do.
Once your water beads have filled up and are ready to use make sure to sort through them and throw away any of the broken pieces and make sure to tell your children that these are not to be put in their mouths. Always be cautious when using small materials with children!
The second thing you are going to want to do is create your Cloud Dough by simply combining your can of shaving cream and 2 boxes of cornstarch in a large bowl. This is a great time to have those little hands help out as well.
To create the yellow and blue cloud dough I show above, I simply divided the cloud dough in half and added my food coloring to the separate batches. Mix together with a large spoon and you are all set to start create your Minions inspired sensory play area.
Set up your sensory play area with Minions toy and pretend play bananas or other fun items that fit well into the theme. You want your child to enjoy themselves while playing in the sensory table and use their imagination when playing.
My girls love telling stories and coming up with their own versions of what the Minions will do next! Plus, this is the perfect activity for younger children to develop sensory skills and imaginative play!
If you have young children who love to play with their hands or just simply love the Minions they will love this sensory play table activity! Super easy to make, but hours of fun!
