As a busy mom I’m always struggling with making my girls a quick easy snack that doesn’t come from a bag, but after I got to thinking snacks are actually easier than I thought they can be! By using some of our favorite items like the Farm Rich cheese sticks I was able to create a yummy Mushroom Cheese Stick Calzone Snack Hack that the entire family loved and now ask for every day at snack time!
Mushroom Pepperoni Cheese Stick Calzone Snack Hack
My favorite thing about this recipe has to be how easy it is to make and that the girls went straight for them without even asking what was inside, including veggies!
I headed to my local Walmart to pick up all of the ingredients I needed to create this simple Mushroom Pepperoni Cheese Stick Calzone recipe. Pick up your Farm Rich cheese sticks in the frozen aisle of your local Walmart and make sure to pick up some fresh veggies like mushrooms, onions, or peppers to go with your calzone recipe. I also picked up some extra Farm Rich products like their Toasted Ravioli because I thought it would go well with my calzones!
Ingredients needed:
- Farm Rich Cheese Sticks
- Homemade Pasta Sauce or your favorite jarred pasta sauce
- Pepperoni
- Mushrooms (or your favorite veggies)
- Pizza dough
- Olive oil
Step One: Preheat your oven at 400 degrees. This next step is not necessary, but I thought it tasted better, my hubby preferred it without this step. Bake your cheese sticks in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Step Two: Lay your pizza dough completely flat and spoon a tiny bit of pasta sauce on half of your dough.
Step Three: Sprinkle diced mushrooms or veggies over your sauce, lay your pepperoni flat over the mushrooms, and then lay about 6-8 Farm Rich cheese sticks over the pepperoni.
Step Four: Fold over your other half of the pizza dough to cover your cheese sticks. Fold all the corners underneath.
Step Five: Brush a bit of extra virgin olive oil on the top of your calzone.
Step Six: Bake in the over at 400 degrees for about 30-35 minutes. Make sure the dough is completely cooked.
Step Seven: Because we are making these snack bites we need to cut them into small triangles making them perfect for dipping! I cut mine into four triangles, but you can easily cut this four triangles into eight smaller pieces. Making it perfect for a quick fun snack!
Heat up a bit of the pizza sauce in a small bowl or dipping container.
As you can see, this calzone recipe is super easy to make and using cheese sticks inside just make it so much more yummier! I hope you get a chance to try out this snack hack that my family absolutely has loved and asked for a few times since making them!

I think these would be FANTASTIC with white pizza sauce (which is pretty much just Alfredo sauce)! I unfortunately can’t eat tomato sauces (I can eat tomatoes themselves, just not the sauces, which confuses me), and I love the white sauce that Dominos has for their pizzas, so I figure it could work with this too! I’m gonna pick up everything next time I go to the store!
