Visiting the dentist for the first time is exciting, but it can also be scary at times. My girls are pretty good about brushing their teeth, but I’m not always convinced that they have done the best job possible, so they seek we are Celebrating First Dentist Appointment with Firefly® + Sweepstake.
Celebrating First Dentist Appointment with Firefly® + Sweepstake
Leading up to our appointment I spoke to the girls on what to expect and that there was nothing to be nervous about. Here are five tips that will keep you celebrating that first dentist appointment in years to come!
1. Brush Your Pearly Whites
Making sure your children are brushing their teeth as soon as their first tooth comes in on a regular basis, helps them get used it and the younger they visit the dentist the better it is. Age 3 is the recommended age for a child’s first visit. Using a brush like Firely® is a fun way of learning to use your tooth brush, especially with their special light-up timer.
Plus, when you visit the dentist for the first time you won’t have to worry about cavities or gum problems. Brushing their teeth at least twice a day is essential for healthy teeth!
2. Read Books About the Dentist
Here are a few of our favorites:
- The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist
- Brush Your Teeth, Please: A Pop-up Book
- Just Going to the Dentist (Little Critter)
3. Play Dentist at Home
Play pretend with your child like brushing their teeth or counting how many teeth they have. Have them be the dentist using one of their favorite stuff animals.
4. Let Them Accompany You to Your Appointment
Letting them watch the hygienist clean your teeth and visit the dentist is a great way for you child to see that it’s simple and there is nothing to be afraid of.
5. Talk To Them About What To Expect
Talk to them about their upcoming appointment, but keep it simple. Don’t talk about the tools being used, instead just let them know that the dentist is to count their teeth and they are to have a good cleaning.
Statistics show that 90% of moms have even admitted to using extreme measures to ensure kids brush their teeth, such as giving ultimatums, bribing with gifts, or taking away TV time and that can be a pain in the brush!
Firefly®is a leader in Children’s Oral Care solutions and the Ready Go Brush. This brush is ADA-approved and equipped with an innovative light-up timer that will guide your child through 60-seconds of brushing with some of their favorite characters such as Angry Birds, Hello Kitty, Star Wars, and Marvel.
My girls absolutely loved brushing their teeth with the Firefly® Hello Kitty tooth brush and Mouth Rinse pump. I couldn’t believe how much easier it was to keep them in the bathroom brushing as long as the brushes light was going.
When first pressed the light turns green, when almost done yellow, and when finished red. It actually works! They both stand in front of the mirror until that little light flashes red! Now I just wish I had something for when they don’t listen 😉
The Hello Kitty pump is easy for them and I love that it brings its own cup that fits perfectly underneath.
