I love creating recipes that I can share with family and friends when they come over to visit. Especially during the month of February when we all get together for the big game! I know that I wanted to create a recipe that was a bit different and not usually shared at parties, but this Sweet and Spicy Guacamole Shrimp Tacos recipe is the perfect combination when cheering on your team!
Sweet and Spicy Guacamole Shrimp Tacos
This recipe was a huge hit at our last game gathering and it was super easy to make into a wonderful taco bar. Our friends couldn’t believe how delicious these sweet and spicy guacamole shrimp tacos were, plus it was something they really weren’t expecting. At game gatherings we usually all just bring chips and dips, but I wanted to share a little bit more during our football game!
Like I mentioned above, this recipe is super easy to make and believe me when I say that you will not spend too much time in the kitchen. This recipe looks harder and fancier than it actually is. So go ahead and impress your friends at your next big game!
Head on over to you local Publix to pick up everything from Old El Paso that you need to create this yummy taco bar recipe!
Ingredients Needed:
- Old El Paso Soft Taco Kit
- Old El Paso Hard Shell Kit (if you want to have a variety)
- Frozen popcorn shrimps (make it light by using small tail off cocktail shrimps)
- Cilantro
- 1-2 bags of Shredded cabbage
- Old El Paco Refried beans (optional if you want to give your guest extra fillings)
Ingredients for Guacamole:
- 3 Ripe Avocados from Mexico
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Onion
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon of lemon
- Diced cilantro
Ingredients for Sweet and Spicy Sauce:
- 1/2 cup of mayonniase
- 2 tablespoons of Sriracha sauce
- 1/2 3 cup of sweet chili sauce
- 1-2 tablespoons of honey
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake your popcorn shrimps according to the instruction on the box. They will bake while you get your guacamole and sweet and spicy sauce ready for your tacos.
Begin with your guacamole to allow time for the flavors to really kick in!
Cut avocados in half and scoop out into a small bowl. Mash avocados with a fork and add your lemon.
Dice your tomatoes and onions. Add to your bowl.
Chop your fresh cilantro and add to the rest of your ingredients.
Gently with a spoon mix everything together. Put in the refrigerator while everything else gets ready.
Now on to your sweet and spicy sauce.
Add all of your ingredients into a bowl and whisk together until everything is combined. Do a taste test. If you want spicier add more Sriracha sauce, but if you want sweeter add some more honey. If you really want to please your guests you can make two different versions one spicy and one sweet.
Lay everything out on a table really nicely for your guests to be able to serve themselves and create their own tacos.
Remember, this is your own taco bar, so really could add all the ingredients that you think would go great with them. Such as cheese, sour cream, and refried beans.
To create your tacos how I have them in this recipe just simply add a spoonful of guacamole to your tortilla, a handful of shredded cabbage, shrimps, and drizzle some of the sauce over.
Repeat and enjoy!
