This is a sponsored brand ambassador post with Find Your Influence and LifeLock.  All opinions are my own and may differ from yours.

Have you or a member of your family ever been in a position where your identity has been stolen or even signs of it?  Well… let me tell you that I personally have twice had to change my bank credit card information because someone had stole them from me.  Just this past Christmas my husband was one of the many who got their information stolen through a large retail company and being that it was his main bank credit card, we were pretty scared.  Especially knowing this was not the first time it has happened to us!  Scary… right?!

LifeLock

We live in a world now where technology has it’s amazing resources, but sometimes people abuse that technology and trust.  That is why I wanted to share with you and partner with LifeLock to share with you all some of their amazing features and benefits.  When it comes to my family and their protection I would just about do anything to make sure that they are safe.

Did you know that thieves actually look for social security numbers that are not used or inactive, like that ones of our children?  Scary isn’t it?

According to Carnegie Mellon CyLab 2009-2010 study, the largest fraud in their study was $750,000 committed against a 16-year-old girl and the youngest victim has been 5 months old!  This is something I definitely want to protect my family from having to ever go through.

Here are some suggestions by CyLab to lower the potential for your child’s identity to be stolen:

  1. Watch for mail in your child’s name. If they suddenly begin to get pre-approved credit card or financial offers, they could have an active credit file.
  2. Make sure your children understand how important it is to keep their data private, including on social networking sites.

It’s always advice to monitor your child’s identity as much as you do yours. I honestly have to say that I never even thought about it this way and it really puts into prospective on how important it is to watch where we share our and our families information.  I believe that we trust websites to much now a days because we are able to do so much from our computers at home, but that is the reason why we should become more aware of the potential of identity theft.

LifeLock Services

This is where LifeLock comes in to help protect us and our families!  LifeLock provides 3 different identity theft protection services LifeLock Standard, LifeLock Ultimate, and LifeLock Junior.  Take a look at their protection plans and choose the one that fits best with what you need for you, your family, or both.  Don’t wait until it’s too late to protect your family from the ugly thieves in this world!  Take ahold of your future and your name.

LifeLock has graciously offered all of my readers a 10% off promo code “LifeLockSafety” for any of their identity theft protection plan.  Take advantage of this opportunity!  Make sure to visit their website HERE for more information and details.

What are you going to do to protect your family from identity theft?
