I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of DiMe Media for the TB Blood Test. #TBBloodTest #PruebaDeSangreTB

As a mom of two beautiful little girls, my priority is to keep them safe and do everything that I can to protect them from any harm. Unfortunately, when our children leave the sanctuary of our home they are exposed to many different things like germs and diseases, including tuberculosis. Today I want to share with you all some information that can help in Keeping Your Family Safe From Tuberculosis.

Keeping Your Family Safe From Tuberculosis

When it comes to my girl’s health this mama doesn’t mess around and will do anything in my power to keep them as healthy as possible, but I also don’t want testing that is invasive for my girls.

What is tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis or TB is an airborne, highly contagious, infectious disease caused by a bacterium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Most frequently, TB affects the lungs, however, it can also cause diseases in any part of the body, such as the lymph nodes, bones, brain, organs, and eyes. It also kills about 1.5 million people worldwide each year.

Unfortunately, because TB is an airborne disease all it takes is a cough, a sneeze, or just speaking with someone face to face who has TB. This is why we need to make sure that our children are being tested and we are aware of all the symptoms.

What can we do?

One of the least invasive ways to see if our children have been exposed to TB is a blood test that will determine if our child has been exposed to tuberculosis. The TB blood test is the only available method of testing for TB with completely objective results and allows you to get accurate results in just one visit leading to meaningful benefits with more ease, more time, and with more certainty.

As parents our lives are so busy as it is we prefer not have to wait on results for our children as important as these, waiting or running back and forth to appointments. The best part of the TB blood test is that it’s a one-time sample test taken to the laboratory and results will be called into the patient 24 hours later. No waiting, no extra appointments, and definitely no extra discomfort for your children.

Who should be tested?

School-aged children ages 5 to 18 should be tested for TB. Make sure to check out the website for more information and resources.

Have you had your child tested for tuberculosis?
