Do you know How Not To Stress During the Holidays? Most people haven’t quite accomplished this, but I have some great tips to help you learn how not to stress during the holidays. This year, you can easily handle all of the parties, meals, and even school plays without the panic and headaches of years before.
How Not To Stress During The Holidays
Start saying “No”
This is by far the best way to keep the stress at bay. Saying no to those many invitations and requests that come in the mail is tough at times, but mandatory if you want to keep the stress level down. Think about what each thing offers to benefit you before you say yes. Doing good in your community is great and worth your time, but you have to remember that your own family needs you more. Make sure you don’t overbook yourself – no matter how great the task may be for others. Set standards for yourself and stick with them. Talk to your family about your time constraints, and make sure you only take on what you can truly handle.
Delegate tasks
From decorations to the holiday meal, don’t do it all yourself. Get your family involved to help you with the chores, cooking and even holiday errands. Kids on school break can take on a few more household chores, and your spouse can help with picking up presents, wrapping things or even getting kids to bed on time. Just because you want to do fun things for the holidays doesn’t mean you have to have stress. By delegating things to others you save yourself frustration. Even the simple act of turning your holiday dinner into a family potluck can save you time, money and tons of stress.
Keep a calendar of events
Having an actual calendar of what is necessary is imperative to not stress during the holidays. Being able to look easily and see what is on your schedule will keep you on task as well as help you to be able to make changes if needed. Make sure your calendar includes everything from your every day tasks to the class parties, shopping needs and neighborhood caroling events. Having things laid out for you to easily plan for will help significantly with your stress levels.
Make time for yourself
This may sound impossible, but it is mandatory for a stress free holiday season. You need to make time for yourself. A manicure, hot bubble bath, or even an hour with a new book can totally recharge you emotionally and physically. This is a must when you are trying not to stress during the holidays.
If you are trying to figure out how not to stress during the holidays, it’s all about planning and understanding what is truly important for you and your family this year. Volunteering for every party, event or class just isn’t necessary to give your family a wonderful holiday season. This year, you can avoid stress and embrace love and joy by putting a few simple things into place to ease your daily tasks and obligations.
Now, which tips from the list above are you going to start using this year?
