Game Day Football OREO Cookie Ball Recipe
As soon as fall is here I can expect family and friends to begin the fall and winter football season get together. At least that’s what I call them! This is the time of year that I get to hang out with family and friends while cheering on our favorite football teams!
One of the things that we love to do is getting together at each others houses rotating around making sure that everyone gets a chance to host! Giving me a chance to share these delicious OREO Cookie Ball recipe footballs inspired by my favorite team!
Before game time I headed to my local Walmart to pick up all of the ingredients that I needed to create this super easy, but oh so delicious recipe.
OREO has so many different flavors that you can really let your imagine run wild when it comes to which flavor you would want to choose and share with everyone later on. For this specific recipe I used the OREO Brownie Batter cookies.
Ingredients for recipe:
- 36 OREO cookies, finely crushed
- 1 package (8 oz.) softened Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese
- 4 packages of white baking chocolate (melted)
- Food coloring (team colors)
- Canola oil
- Frosting
- Zipblock bag
Step One: Crush or use a food processor to crush your OREO cookies
Step Two: Pour crushed OREO cookies into a large bowl and add your entire block of soften cream cheese. Using a fork mash around your cream cheese and OREO cookies until everything is nicely mixed together. You will no longer see any white showing from the cream cheese.
Step Three: Using a tablespoon scoop up OREO Cookie Ball mix and shape into mini footballs. The easiest way is to roll into a ball and then try to create an oval shape with pointy ends.
Freeze for about 10 minutes.
Step Four: Melt your chocolate according to the instructions, but because you are adding food coloring you also want to add a bit of canola or vegetable oil to make sure the chocolate doesn’t harden.
I suggest heating up the chocolate a bit at a time. In a microwave safe bowl add about a cup of chocolate, 1 tablespoon of canola or vegetable oil, and food coloring. Heat for 30 seconds. Mix chocolate mixture and then heat at 15 seconds interval until chocolate is completely melted.
Repeat step 4 for heating up your second color or any additional chocolate you may need to cover your OREO Cookie Balls.
Step Five: Once you have your melted chocolate ready, dip one side of your OREO Cookie Ball in the chocolate gently. If you have a hard time dipping you can also use a knife to spread gently across half of the football.
Once you have half of each football covered in chocolate, return to the freezer for another 10 minutes.
Step Six: Repeat step five to cover the other side of the football with a different color.
Return to freezer for about 5 minutes.
Step Seven: Add frosting to a ziplock bag, twist, and cut a very small hole at the end of one of the corners. You will use this to create laces on your football OREO Cookie Balls.
Allow to sit in the refrigerator until ready for Game Time!
As you can see this is a super easy recipe to create and I just know that all of your sports fans will also love it!
