If you were to ask my friends what I do for a living, they will most likely respond with everything. I have been in the hospitality business, entertainment business, an educator, and a business owner for an educational toy online company, an embroidery children’s clothing company and now a social media expert/writer. Why am I sharing this with you? Because when you Stand Out From the Crowd people will notice what you do!
No matter what you do as a career or business person, standing out from the crowd is a must! Especially when you are running your own business. Personally, I consider my blog my business, so I need to stand out from the thousands of other bloggers out there to get amazing opportunities or to work with companies who I truly believe in!
As I shared a few months ago A Name Can Make Your Dreams Come True is step one of standing out from the crowd!
Many a times I see businesses and bloggers trying to mimic what others are doing. That might have worked for them, because they were doing something new at the time, but copying what others do is not the answer. Creating your uniqueness is what will bring followers and loyal readers or customers to your site!
Today I wanted to share with you a business that stood out to me when I did some research with Name.Kitchen and that was ThisLittle.Boutique. I chose This Little.. because it reminded me so much of when I used to have my own boutique and no one would get my name (‘lil Cheekkers). This is why a domain with Name.Kitchen is so important when trying to brand yourself. I also loved how Mitucha Ford added the 2 dots after the name, making her different and a way of standing out of the crowd.
Just like many small businesses Mitucha Ford began getting customers through social media, but soon realized that having a professional website would set her apart and help her customers purchase her product easier. She also choose her name based off the rhyming story “This Little Piggy Went to Market”, knowing that all of her items would be small in size and related to babies. Plus when she added the dot boutique at the end of her name, customers now know that she is a boutique.
To me Mitucha Ford knew exactly what she wanted and because she knew what her name would bring. She waited for the perfect time to create her online empire with Name.Kitchen. She is a one woman show and I admire that about her! It’s not easy running a business on your own and being the creator of the product as well, believe me I know! As you can see, you as well can start your own small business.
These “not-com” name options will allow small businesses like Mitucha, myself, and you to create the dream online presence you need for your readers or customers. Being able to definitely stand out from the crowd of billions of online retailers and bloggers. Too many times I have seen companies with similar names or even worse, not being able to have the name they so desire, but with Name.Kitchen this is now possible. To wrap things off lets review how YOU will stand out from the crowd!
- Choose a unique name, but something that portrays you. Don’t jump into anything, take your time!
- Be true to yourself and don’t mimic what others do.
- Write, share, or sell a product you BELIEVE in.
- Love what you do!
- Thing of your business as a business from the start! Not a hobby!
If you were to take one of the top 5 advices I shared with you above, take with you the second one! Being true to yourself not only will allow others to know who you are as a person, business, or writer, but it will bring in your followers or customers! How do I know that? Because when I step away from what others are doing and share what I love, that’s when I see my readers truly appreciate my work!
Stand Out From the Crowd, it not only will empower your business, but it will help you become successful in the long run!
