Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank

Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank

This is the perfect craft to create with your kiddos this summer! Not only can they use it to save, but it’s perfect for when learning about money and coins.

Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank materials

Materials needed:

  • paper towel roll
  • paper plate
  • duct tape
  • hot glue (or school glue, it just takes longer to dry)
  • googly eyes
  • green crayon or pencil
  • red & green construction paper
  • scissors
  • rectangle piece of cardboard

Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank 2

Squeeze glue over the green construction paper. Roll the paper tube up in it. Glue the seam edge. Let dry for a minute or two. Cut excess paper off the end.

Duct tape one end of the paper towel tube, this will be the bottom of the bank. Duct tape the rectangle  piece of cardboard and glue it to the bottom of the bank. This acts as a base and will help the bank stand up.

Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank 3

Cut the middle out from the paper plate. Color it green and fold in half. This is your frog head. Cut 2 oval shape pieces from the paper plate scraps. Glue one googly eye on to each piece. Then, glue the pieces to the top of the frog head as eyes.

Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank 4

Cut a long skinny strip of red paper, roll it up in a pencil , glue inside the paper plate. This is your frog’s long tongue! Cut a slit into the paper plate to act as a coin slot. Glue the frog head onto the top of the paper tube.

It is best to use hot glue or tacky glue so this will dry fast.

DIY Paper Plate Frog Coin Bank

Start saving coins! OR better yet… earning, then saving! Use this to teach your child the value of money or to begin earning. Make sure to save their froggy bank, because it would make the perfect addition to any math lesson!

How will you use this cute Frog Bank?
