7 Places To Trick Or Treat Safely

The Mall. Yes, the classic shopping center is one of the best places to go trick or treating with kids. Almost every store will have bowls of candy out, and many will have costume contests happening. You will be safe, indoors with great lighting and climate control. All perks of heading to the mall instead of a local neighborhood.

YMCA. Almost every YMCA nationwide hosts some kind of community event around Halloween. Not only will your kids get candy, they will also end up with fun treats and perhaps you’ll win a free membership if the one near you hosts giveaways during their event.

Church events. Many churches host Harvest festivals or what they call trunk or treat in their parking lots around the holiday. A church event will have a lot more people and chances for your kids to get treats in a safe environment. Harvest festivals are a great event that will often have pumpkin carving contests, games, face painting and even a hay ride.

School events. Depending on your individual school, you may have a fall or Halloween event to attend with your kids. These often have bouncy houses, balloon animals or face painting for kids to enjoy along with classic Halloween treats. Some schools use these kind of events as a great way to raise money for different events or groups.

Community events. If you live in a gated community, apartment complex or subdivision you may be able to organize a community event that has everyone outside their home with treats and games for kids to play. Check out other community evens near you to see if your family can participate.

Family members homes. Head out to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and older siblings houses to trick or treat safely. A lot of times family will even have special treat bags for kids that make it even better to head to their homes.

Local businesses. Don’t go just to the mall. Head to your local downtown community for local businesses that may be giving out candy on Halloween. If your city or town has a city square or downtown district ask around to see if they will be hosting Halloween events, or simply if they will be handing out candy on Halloween to trick or treaters. This can be a great way to give back to your community.

These are great places to trick or treat safely with your family. From toddlers to teenagers these are great options for Halloween events and trick or treating. Get to know your community, churches and local events so you can have fun safely as a family.

What is your preferred place to go trick-or-treating with the kiddos?
