The girls love doing art work with paint and glitter, so last week we decided to make some Pot ‘O Gold Rainbow Crafts. This is an easy and fun craft to do while learning about rainbow colors and leprechauns for the month of March.
Materials Needed:
- Rainbow colors paint
- Paint brushes
- Gold glitter
- Craft glue
- Cotton Balls
- Large construction paper to glue everything on
- Black construction paper for pot
- Yellow construction paper for gold coins
- Rainbow coloring sheet printed on cardstock or free hand rainbow
We have been talking about rainbows all weeks and have read some wonderful books to go with our lesson (check out some of our suggestions down below). We also used our iPad to find pictures of rainbows and an example that helped the girls color their own.
Using some of the pictures they found online, they began creating their own rainbows. I found a rainbow template that I had in my school supply drawer that I copied on cardstock. Once the girls were finished with their rainbows we set them aside for about 15 minutes underneath our fan to dry for a bit.
After the rainbow was dry enough to glue on we began adding our pot, clouds, and gold coins. For the pot I used construction paper and drew a simple pot, then for clouds we used cotton balls that the girls glued on with craft glue.
To make our gold coins we used yellow construction paper and gold glitter of course 🙂 I simply cut out small circles and the girls added dots and squiggly lines with the craft glue, then sprinkled the gold glitter over it. We then set aside for a few hours and allow to dry a bit. Once the gold coins were dried we glued them on our black pots.
These looked wonderful next to our Shamrock Suncatchers in our living room and perfect to celebrate Spring and St. Patrick’s Day!
Check out some of the books we have read this month and recommend 🙂

That is a cute craft idea. I have pinned it to my St. Patrick’s Day Board. Thank you for sharing it on Artsy Play Wednesday.
