After finally getting into the groove and on a schedule for our daily lessons I thought this would be the perfect week to begin our Bible Curriculum “God’s Little Explorers” by Motherhood on a Dime. This weeks theme is “X Marks the Spot” God’s Word is a Treasure. It’s our introductory lesson to the curriculum.
We started our morning with a walk around the house checking out if we found anything different. Princess immediately started spotting several letters taped around the house. Using painters tape I made some X’s and Dd’s for her to find. Because Princess already recognizes all of her letters and we are on our 5th week of homeschooling I decided that I will be mixing our weekly letter with our God’s Little Explorers weekly letter as well.
We also practiced making the letter X with our fingers and arms.
After searching for a bit I gave her a hint and told her “Find the X that marks the spot. Your treasure there will await, where music and pianos are played”. I did have to repeat it again, but she finally caught the word piano in her clue :). She was so excited to find a present!
She was so excited to see what was in the bag that I wasn’t fast enough for a picture. We talked about ow God’s Word is a Treasure and that’s why it was hidden with the X. She watches Jake and the Neverland Pirates so she was all into finding Treasure! For our Bible we will be incorporating The Catholic Book of Bible Stories. See below for some additional Bible resources.
After taking a picture walk through our Bible it was time to decorate her X. I had several items chosen for Princess to use, but she insisted on decorating with buttons. Whatever makes her happy as long as she learns the lesson at the end of the day 🙂
Now it was time for our map! This had to be her favorite part of the entire morning! She was so excited to make her map and decorate it. We talked about what type of things God would like for her to see on her Pre-K journey this year. Then she picked out some foamy stickers with hearts which represented love and butterflies, ladybugs, and flowers represented nature (she said play outside) :).
I think that we are going to have lots of fun with our God’s Little Explorers Curriculum! Tomorrow we are making binocular and going on a letter hunt!
