Our homeschooling day always begins with Calendar and Weather. Princess counts the days on the calendar and adds the next number. We always review the number date, the day of the week, the month, and year. One of the girls favorite part is to sing their daily songs. We use Dr. Jean and Friends CD “Days of the Week” and ” Months of the Year” songs. I used this CD everyday in my Pre-K classroom.
Lil Cheekkers loves to help her sister during her morning Calendar & Weather as well. We also count down to any special occasion we have that month. This month is Princesses 4th birthday, so we have some balloons on the day her birthday would be, then we count how many days left for the big event.
After calendar and our songs we finish up with the weather, which is Lil Cheekkers job. I always make sure that we keep constancy on our morning routine, this way the girls know exactly what to expect. The best part of this is that I’ve already gotten some of my math and science done for the day :). We also use the calendar a lot to reference back on numbers if Princess gets stuck on a math activity or has trouble recognizing any numbers.
